Exercising with Hearing Aids: Tips and Tricks to Protect Your Device

Pre-Workout

  • Your gym bag should have extra sweatbands and sweat covers for your hearing aids.
  • If you are exercising outside, take an additional small towel or two to help wipe down your devices as needed. Make sure to apply sunscreen or insect repellant before putting in your hearing aids.
  • Take the storage case for your device if you plan on working out in the pool or you need to remove them.
  • Always take extra batteries just in case they run out of power.

While Exercising

  • Vigorous activity can dislodge your hearing aid and send it flying, make sure to keep them secure with a headband or clothing clip to prevent them from getting lost or damaged.
  • Make sure to change your sweatbands and hearing aid covers often as you sweat; the moisture could penetrate the housing and damage the delicate electronics inside.

Post-Workout

  • Make sure to inspect your hearing aids once you are done with your workout; give them a quick-dry and clean before you leave.
  • When you are working out, exposing your device to sweat and moisture is inevitable, it’s essential to use a drying box to protect them.
